People's Emergency Briefing

Publication1

Dear Friends,
We are hosting a screening of the National Emergency Briefing St Illtud’s Church, Llantwit Major CF61 1SS, on Friday 9 th October
8.00pm.
We extend an especially warm welcome to our sisters and brothers in Christ from the churches of our town, to join us for this important event.

The film looks at the impact of climate change on our world and, specifically, its impact on our own country. A range of experts set out their concerns that were presented to MPs in November 2025. This film extends the scientific briefing for our nation to witness.

This is not a ‘Christian’ film, but it addresses core issues about what it means to care for God’s Creation with responsible stewardship and generosity. We hope you will be able to join us on 9 th October.

The film will start at 8.00pm and it lasts about 50 minutes. That will be followed by tea and coffee and a chance to chat informally with others and make your comments in response.

This is not a ticketed event, but there is plenty of room in St Illtud’s and we look forward to welcoming you on the night.

Yours in Christ,
Fr Edwin Counsell

About the Film

The UK faces a growing climate and nature emergency. Yet most people have never been fully briefed on what it means for our lives, our economy and our future.
In November 2025, the National Emergency Briefing brought together leading experts to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians and other influential people in Westminster.

That evidence is now on the public record. The film is intended as a catalyst for a wider public conversation, so that the whole country can be fully informed about the climate change risks we face, and the solutions available.

About the Event

Join us for an urgent community screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing.
Hosted by environmentalist Chris Packham CBE

This powerful 50-minute documentary delivers the frank reality check on the UK’s climate and nature crisis that our media and politicians often avoid.

The film reveals the startling evidence presented directly to over 1,200 Westminster politicians at a historic summit.
It breaks down exactly how climate collapse is already threatening British food security, national infrastructure, public health, and economic stability.

Featuring raw audience reactions, insights from top scientists, a former military general, and familiar faces like Jennifer Saunders, this film moves past political division to show what is really happening to our country.

This isn't just about watching a movie—it’s about what we do next

The screening will be followed by a live discussion exploring how we can protect our community and hold our local representatives accountable.

Run time: 50 minutes (followed by a community discussion)
