Mothers' Union
Llantwit Major's branch of the world-wide movement.

Mothers’ Union is a global Christian movement working since 1876 with people of all faiths and none to develop communities, strengthen families and advocate for change.
Around the world our 4 million members are active in 84 countries and work tirelessly to serve their communities whilst offering Christian care for families, regardless of faith or background.
Ending violence, ending poverty, ending injustice. We are a truly worldwide Christian movement.
The St. Illtud's branch of the MU is part of the Llandaff Diocesan Mothers' Union.

Membership
If you are new to our area and would like to join or transfer your previous membership, please contact us.
Our membership contributions for 2026 are £27.00 per member. This is our contribution, not only to the running of the MU as an organisation but also to the campaigning and project work of MU wherever we work.
Mid day Prayers
Prayer is a very important part of MU life. Every day at Mid Day MU members, wherever they are, pray. Our prayers change thoughout the year focussing on topics we are particularly concerned about at the time.
The MU Facebook page has live prayers at Noon (London time) every day.
For those of you who would like to pray at home, our April Mid Day Prayers can be found here
June Meeting - June 2nd at 2.00pm in St Illtud's
Our June meeting will be a fund raising event and open to everyone. It will take the form of Afternoon Tea and an informal Quiz. Watch out for details.
Food Bank Reminder
We are supporting our local Food Bank especially with toiletries (for children, men and women) and sanitary products. These can be brought to church at any time and placed in the Food Bank boxes. Obviously all our gifts to the foodbank are very welcome but these particular items are much needed.
Upcoming Events
The MU 150th Anniversary Service in St Paul's Cathedral
This service for the MU 150th Anniversary Service is taking place in St Paul's Cathedral in London on June the 10th.
MU have arranged for the service to be live streamed via the Mothers’ Union Facebook page. So, even for those of us unable to join at the cathedral, we can still be part of this joyous celebration.
If you don't do Facebook or want to watch together with other members then we may be able to arrange for us to get together in Church to watch the service. Please let Sue Beetlestone know so that we can arrange this.
The service starts at 5pm UK time on 10 June (it may start 10 minutes later, depending how long it takes the congregation to be seated!).
July Meeting - July 7th at 2.00pm in St Illtud's
We look forward to welcoming Hannah, our ordinand student to speak to us.
Dates for August - Fish & Chip Lunch, Mary Sumner Day and Banner re-dedication
There are two dates for this, Wednesday August 5th and Sunday August 9th. On the Wednesday we will be joining the Wednesday morning Eucharist in St Illtud's and, together with our fellow members from St Brides and Colwinston, we will be staying on for our Fish and Chip lunch. On the Sunday, to celebrate Mary Sumner Day our Banner will be rededicated following its' log awaited and splendid renovation. It would be lovely if as many members as possible can be there. If you haven't already seen the repaired Banner, it is back where it belongs and is looking lovely.

Tiny Treasure Seekers
MU Members are helping to support St Illtud's work with children. If you are able to help with our commitment to support Tiny Treasure Seekers by serving refreshments and chatting to Mums and Carers, please ask about how you can become involved.
"Behind Closed Doors" exhibition.

In the summer of 2024 we hosted the "Behind Closed Doors" exhibition in St Illtud's during the first two weeks of July. This exhibition explores the issue of domestic violence and invites us to think about ways in which we can help to address this in our community. It then moved on to the National Eisteddfod in Pontypridd and will be in various churches around the Diocese after that.
We are hoping to host this again.
